The Shreveport Police Department has arrested two individuals in connection with a disturbing case of child abuse that occurred on June 8.
Just after 2pm, officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Boulevard Street in reference to reports of a
two-year-old child suffering from severe bruising and lacerations. Due to the nature and extent of the injuries, detectives with the Shreveport Police Juvenile Crimes Unit responded to the scene and immediately launched an investigation.
The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) was also contacted and responded
promptly. During the investigation, detectives observed that the child had eight elongated marks on the back consistent with being struck with a cord. These injuries included bruising and broken skin. Additional injuries were noted on the child’s face and thighs.
Following interviews and further investigation, Patricia Jackson and Larisha Coleman were arrested and each charged with one count of Cruelty to a Juvenile. The victim and an infant sibling were removed from the home and placed into temporary foster care by DCFS.
This investigation remains ongoing.
