Bossier Parish Schools has announced that Haughton Elementary is celebrating the end of the school year with a state distinction they have worked hard to attain: the Buccaneers are now a Purple Star School.
Principal Yvae Johnson and her administrative team were surprised with the news they had been approved for the Purple Star distinction by the Louisiana Department of Education, which is not an easy feat. Schools must meet a high standard when it comes to providing various support services and resources to military children and their families.
Haughton Elementary is the 28th Purple Star School in the district, demonstrating a strong commitment to the more than 3,000 dependents attending Bossier Schools. Congratulations to Haughton Elementary.
