
Shreveport Police Department has remained committed to keeping illegal firearms out of the hands of those prohibited from possessing them. Over the past several days, officers have arrested multiple individuals on various charges, including illegal possession of firearms, narcotics, and impaired driving.
On May 5, at approximately 3:30am, officers responded to a hit-and-run incident. The investigation led to
the arrest of Trayvus Smith, who was found to be driving with a suspended license. Further investigation revealed that Smith was in possession of illegal narcotics and a firearm. He was charged with hit and run, illegal possession of a firearm, and possession with intent to distribute narcotics.
On May 3, just before 10pm, officers conducted a traffic stop after a vehicle failed to use a turn signal. The
driver, Patrick Williams, was found to be in possession of a stolen firearm. Officers later determined that Williams was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was arrested and now faces multiple charges, including illegal possession of a stolen firearm.
On May 4, just before midnight, officers arrested Climiter Cosby during a traffic stop related to an equipment violation. Upon further investigation, Cosby was found to be in possession of a firearm. He was also determined to be a convicted felon and charged accordingly.
Additionally, on May 3, officers arrested Briana Loyd during a traffic stop after she reportedly ran a red light. Loyd was arrested for driving while intoxicated and found to be in possession of a firearm. She is a convicted felon due to a previous aggravated battery conviction and now faces charges of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
These arrests highlight the outstanding work of Shreveport Police officers in protecting the community and enforcing the law. Their diligence continues to make a difference in keeping illegal weapons out of the wrong hands.
