The Shreveport Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Mercedes Gatewood, who is wanted in connection with a bank fraud case.
Gatewood is accused of presenting a fraudulent check at Gibbs Lund Bank and Trust on Line Avenue on April 8. The check, made payable for nearly $5,000, was determined to be fraudulent. Detectives with the
Shreveport Police Department’s Financial Crimes Unit have determined that Gatewood is a part of a larger
check ring involved in the negotiation of multiple fraudulent checks across several jurisdictions.
On April 30, detectives obtained a warrant for Mercedes Gatewood, charging her with one count of
bank fraud.
Anyone with information about Mercedes Gatewood’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Shreveport Police Department at 318-673-7300 or Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373. Tips can remain anonymous.
