HAWKINS, Texas – About the only suspense this weekend regarding the LSU Shreveport Pilots’ pursuit of another milestone was where it would happen.

After a doubleheader sweep Saturday ended the Pilots’ regular season with a 47-0 record, LSUS owns the all-time college baseball longest winning streak among four-year programs.

The Pilots beat Jarvis Christian 18-2 and 10-0 in Hawkins on the JCC campus, after winning 16-0 in the first game of the series, played at LSUS Friday due to wet field conditions in east Texas where the series was slated. It was shifted Thursday to LSUS’ Pilot Field, which has artificial turf, but after good weather Friday made the field in Hawkins playable, the doubleheader was moved back to Jarvis Christian.

LSUS eclipsed the previous record of 46 straight wins set by Savannah State (NCAA Division II) in 2000.

The all-time college baseball longest streak is 57 games by junior college member Howard College (Texas), set in 2007.

LSUS will play in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament beginning Thursday in Sterlington, before hosting an NAIA Regional (May 12-15).
