Shreveport Police officers responded to reports of an assault and battery in the 2000 block of Marshall Street, near a local nightclub just after 2am on April 13.
Upon arrival, officers encountered 39-year-old Jason Braziel. During their investigation, officers discovered Braziel was in possession of a firearm. When officers attempted to detain him, Braziel resisted arrest but was ultimately taken into custody without injury.
Further investigation revealed that Braziel had outstanding warrants stemming from a 2023 armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and a parole violation. He has now been booked on those outstanding charges in addition to:
- Aggravated Assault with a Firearm
- Resisting an Officer
- Negligent Carrying of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Braziel has an extensive criminal history, including prior felony convictions—one of which stems from a 2021 home invasion case.
The Shreveport Police Department remains committed to removing dangerous individuals and illegal firearms from the streets.
