Airline High School is in the market for a new boys basketball coach after the resignation of Cedric Washington, principal Justin James announced Monday.
In his two seasons at Airline, Washington led the Vikings to consecutive playoff appearances, highlighted by the program’s first home playoff game since 2012 in his first season, then a 49-45 upset win in the first round this past season at fifth-seeded Northshore. The Vikings were competitive in a 65-60 second-round defeat at No. 12 Covington.
“The administration is grateful for Coach Washington’s service to the school and the community,” said James in a written statement announcing Washington had stepped down as coach.
Washington had an overall 32-35 record in his two seasons coaching at Airline, 12-19 this season after a 20-16 mark in his first year with the Vikings.
AHS athletic director Toby Todd (toby.todd@bossierschools.org) is accepting applications through April 25 for the vacancy.
