Mayor Tom Arceneaux’s Summer Internship Program is accepting applications until April 25. Anyone who knows a bright student who would like to gain hands-on experience in municipal government should share this information. The 2024 Internship Program was a huge success, and this year will be even better.
The program runs from June 2 to July 11, providing selected interns with paid, structured learning experiences that introduce them to the inner workings of local government.
The six-week program is open to students who meet the following qualifications:
• Must be a resident of Shreveport
• Must be at least a college sophomore or graduate student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
• Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
• May be a Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 graduate
• Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, commitment to community, sense of responsibility, and academic performance
Interns will work 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 9am to 4pm, and will be compensated for their participation.
Interested applicants must submit the following materials:
• Completed application
• Resume
• Letter of interest
• Two letters of recommendation (with contact information)
• Official college transcripts (sent directly from the institution)
All application packets must be received by 4pm on April 25. Incomplete applications or those that do not meet the eligibility criteria by the deadline will not be considered.
