Shreveport Police made an arrest following an assault and battery call in the early hours of March 3.

Just after midnight, officers responded to the 2900 block of Tulsa St. after receiving reports that 27-year-old Shyheem Davenport had assaulted his 87-year-old grandfather. Family members on scene informed officers of the attack, and a female victim also reported that Davenport had made threatening sexual advances toward her.

Responding officers arrived swiftly and took Davenport into custody without further incident. Following an extensive investigation by patrol officers, Davenport was charged with one count of second-degree battery.

Fortunately, the elderly victim received treatment from the Shreveport Fire Department and is expected to recover.
