For the last year and a half, an unidentified shoplifter had been treating the Youree Drive Target like her personal grab-and-go boutique—dashing out of the fire exit before anyone could stop her. But on Feb. 10, the infamous “Fire Exit Lady” finally found herself facing the one thing she couldn’t outrun: Shreveport Police.
When officers arrived at Target, Catreece Madison (now with an actual name) stuck to her usual game plan—run like crazy. Unfortunately for her, this time, officers were faster. After an impromptu track meet through the store and parking lot, she was tased and taken into custody.
Shreveport Police detectives had been piecing together the case for months, trying to identify the mystery thief responsible for at least 21 separate thefts dating back to Sept. 7, 2023. By the time she was caught, Madison had racked up a staggering $10,000 in stolen goods—which, ironically, is way more than most Target customers spend trying to “just grab one thing.”
Her arrest wasn’t just about the latest shopping spree. Investigators uncovered four prior theft convictions, including one right in the middle of her crime streak (because apparently, she believed in consistency). Due to her status as a habitual offender, Madison was charged with 18 additional counts of Felony Theft, one for each of her past visits where she walked out with full hands and an empty conscience.
