SPD officers were dispatched to the 6300 block of North Inwood Rd. on Feb. 4 in response to a reported domestic incident. Dispatch advised that the victim had sought refuge at a neighbor’s residence for safety.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim, who reported that her husband, Chad Harkness, had come home intoxicated and extremely aggressive. The victim stated that during the altercation, which occurred in the presence of the child, Harkness struck her in the face while she was on the phone. Following the assault, Harkness retreated to the master bedroom, where he called out her name while loading a shotgun. Fearing for her life and the safety of her child, the victim fled to a neighbor’s house.

Officers entered the residence, located Harkness, and placed him under arrest without incident. He has been charged with one count of Domestic Abuse with Child Endangerment and one count of Domestic Abuse Aggravated Assault.
