The Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that February 12, 2025 has been proclaimed “MaKesha Harris-Evans Day” in Bossier City. Assistant Chief Kesha Evans was recognized by Mayor Tommy Chandler celebrating her incredible contributions and accomplishments, not only during Black History Month, but throughout her career.
Assistant Chief Evans’ dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our community have set a powerful example of excellence and service. She continues to inspire and pave the way for future generations of leaders, and this special day is a testament to her hard work and the impact she has made in the community.

WHEREAS, the month of February 2025 has been recognized by President Trump as Black History Month; and
WHEREAS, Black History Month affords special opportunity to become more knowledgeable about black heritage, and to honor the many black leaders who have contributed to the progress of our nation; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bossier City recognizes and celebrates Black History Month in February 2025 and we recognize African-American leaders within the Bossier Community, such as MaKesha Harris-Evans, Mrs. Harris-Evans serves as the Assistant Chief of the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department where she has worked for the last 28 years; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Harris-Evans graduated from Grambling State University and holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in the field of Criminal Justice as well as a Master’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice, she is also a Wife and mother to 4 beautiful children; and
WHEREAS, after beginning her career in law enforcement with the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department, she served and supervised at many facilities within the Corrections Department; and
WHEREAS, over the years, Mrs. Harris-Evans has held several titles in the Sheriff’s Department but her proudest moments were when she became the first African American Female to hold the positions of Captain and Warden of the Medium Security Facility and Assistant Chief of the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Department; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of Bossier City recognizes and honors and presents this proclamation to Assistant Chief, MaKesha Harris-Evans for her faithful and selfless service to the citizens of the Bossier Parish Community for the last 28 years and declares, Wednesday, February 12, 2025, as MaKesha Harris-Evans Day in the City of Bossier City.
