Sgt. Faris and Ofc. Williams of Greenwood Police conducted a traffic stop on Jan. 20 after observing a 2023 Dodge Challenger fail to stop at the stop sign in front of the TA Truck Stop. Upon contacting the driver, Sgt. Faris detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle. When asked if there was any more marijuana in the vehicle, the driver stated that when officers tried to affect the traffic stop, she threw a lit marijuana cigarette out the window.
Sgt. Faris and Ofc. Williams conducted a search of the vehicle, based on probable cause, and were able to locate 13.5g of marijuana, 3 baggies of cocaine, an electronic vape containing THC oil, a prescription pill bottle containing 8 ¼ MDMA (Ecstasy) tablets, cigars that would be used to smoke marijuana later, a cigarette rolling machine, and a marijuana grinder. When questioned, the driver told officers that she forgot the drugs were in her vehicle.
The driver was booked into Caddo Correctional Center for the stop sign violation, possession of marijuana, possession of MDMA, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
