SFD responds to apartment fire on Centenary Blvd.

The Shreveport Fire Department received a 911 call at 6:30pm on Jan. 7 reporting a building on fire in the 1900 block of Centenary Blvd. at the former Oak Meadows Apartments. Engine 7 arrived on scene within five (5) minutes and reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the apartment complex structure.

It required the efforts of twenty-eight (28) firefighters operating twelve (12) units to bring the situation under control. One aerial ladder truck had to be deployed to assist in extinguishing the fire. Additionally, firefighters had to contend with a long hose lay to a hydrant located on the surrounding city street, as there are no water utilities inside the complex. SFD Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
