
The Bossier Parish Police Jury is hiring a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer I or II.
The primary responsibility of the officer is to ensure the safety of the motoring public on all Bossier Parish roadways through an active commercial vehicle enforcement program.
This description covers the principal duties and responsibilities of the job. The description shall not, however, be construed as a complete listing of all duties which may be required from day to day.
To regulate Commercial Vehicles on Bossier Parish Highways to include:
- Monitoring any commercial motor vehicle encountered on Bossier Parish roadways to be sure they do not exceed commercial vehicle parameters (width, height, length, or weight).
- Make traffic stops on commercial vehicles in violation of Parish regulations and issue citations as necessary.
- Maintain a daily weight log of all commercial vehicles weighed with portable scales and the disposition of each.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High school diploma or (GED).
- Completion of a P.O.S.T. certified academy with a minimum of two (2) years’ law enforcement experience or the equivalent as deemed by the Bossier Parish Police Jury is preferred.
- Special note: Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation and drug screen.
- Random drug testing is conducted on all Highway employees.
The position is Labor Grade 17 or 20 (minimum $34,393.37 – maximum $69,815.19, depending on experience, and is an hourly position. A more detailed job description can be found on the Jury’s Facebook profile.
