Phone scam impersonating a Caddo deputy resurfaces

A phone scam involving the impersonation of a Caddo deputy has resurfaced.

A recent phone scam targeting Caddo Parish residents is once again active. Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators have reported that scammers are impersonating Sgt. John May and calling individuals from 318-602-0696. During these calls, they demand money by claiming that there is a warrant for the person’s arrest due to failure to appear for jury duty.

It is essential to understand that no one from the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office will ever request payments over the phone or to send payment by mail.

These scammers have already targeted multiple individuals. Anyone who receives a call like this should hang up immediately. Do not make any payments, provide personal information, or share details about gift or money cards. Stay safe and vigilant.

Anyone who believes that they may have a warrant for their arrest in Caddo Parish can visit the CPSO website, scroll to the bottom of the page, and click on “active warrants.” Then, enter name, and it will show any outstanding warrants.
