SFD responds to mobile RV fire on Grimmett Drive and Havens Road

The Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched to reports of a car fire in a lot at the corner of Grimmett Drive and Havens Road on Sunday, Nov. 24 at approximately 8:45am. The 911 call was made by the occupant of the mobile RV home, who reported that his RV was on fire.

Upon arrival at approximately 8:51am, Engine #1 from the Downtown Central Fire Station, led by Captain Derrick Austin, encountered heavy smoke and flames visible and immediately called for additional resources to assist with extinguishment of the large mobile RV home. Firefighters immediately initiated a coordinated attack to suppress the fire.

The fire was placed under control within minutes of the first crew’s arrival, with 7 fire units— comprising 15 firefighters and support personnel—responding to the scene. The fire did not result in any injuries to Shreveport firefighters. The resident, however, was treated for minor injuries on scene.

The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation by the Shreveport Fire Investigation Office.
