Off to a 6-0 start, the Bossier Parish Community College basketball team hosts the Third Annual Decari Markray Classic today and Tuesday at Billy Montgomery Gym in Bossier City, with the home team playing at 7 tonight and four local high school teams involved Tuesday evening.

Coach J.A. Anglin’s Cavaliers are averaging 94 points per game in their fast start, which includes wins over junior varsity teams from ETBU and Centenary.

Monday’s slate involves four NJCAA Division 1 teams — two from Region 14, Navarro College and BPCC, and two from Region 23, Baton Rouge Community College and Delgado Community College.

Baton Rouge CC and Navarro  meet at 5, followed by the host Cavaliers and Delgado at 7.

Tuesday’s slate has the college action in midday.  Navarro and Delgado will play the first game at 11 a.m. followed by Bossier Parish and Baton Rouge at 1.

In the high school contests, Markray’s alma mater, Doyline, will play Plain Dealing at 5:30 followed by Bossier battling Evangel Christian at 7:30.

The two-day classic was started in November 2022 to honor the former Doyline and Bossier Parish CC standout, who tragically passed away in October of 2021.

All games will be livestreamed through Bossier Parish Community College’s YouTube page. Additional information can be found on BPCC Basketball social media accounts.
