Shreveport police officer arrested in domestic incident

On Tuesday, the Shreveport Police Department arrested off-duty officer Marcellas Anderson in connection with a domestic violence incident.

Officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Mesa Drive following a welfare call, which led to Anderson’s arrest on two counts of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.

Officer Anderson, who has served with the department since February 2023, has been placed on administrative leave as authorities conduct a formal investigation into the charges.

Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith voiced his disappointment regarding the situation, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the events that have unfolded. We will ensure a full and transparent investigation into this matter.” He reaffirmed the department’s commitment to a thorough and impartial inquiry.

The victim involved is expected to make a full recovery.
