The Shreveport Fire Department (SFD) received a call for a possible fire on May 26 around 2:23 pm at an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Quail Creek Rd. The first unit arrived on scene within six minutes and reported heavy smoke and flames visible. They also recognized a person attempting to climb from a second story windows, and were able to safely rescue him with a ladder. The units on scene quickly began firefighting efforts and recognized the need for additional personnel. At 2:42 p.m. the on scene commander requested more units, calling for a second alarm. It took the efforts of approximately forty-eight (48) firefighters operating eighteen (18) units almost three hours to bring the blaze under control.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. There were multiple units that sustained heavy damage. No civilians were injured, but three firefighters were transported to local hospitals.
