
Shreveport Police Department responded to an assault and battery call on May 12 around 4:30 pm in the 2600 block of Devaugh Street. The call came from a female resident seeking assistance as her ex-boyfriend refused to return her belongings.
Upon arrival, officers encountered Keuntae Williams. During the interaction, Williams attempted to arm himself with handgun. Fortunately, officers were able to disarm Williams after a brief struggle. No injuries to officers or other individuals were reported.
Williams, 26, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault on a police officer and one count of resisting an officer. He is currently in custody pending further legal proceedings.
The Shreveport Police Department commends the quick actions of the responding officers that prevented a potentially dangerous situation from escalating.
Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
