The three highest Caddo-Bossier seeds all scored wins in the second round of the LHSAA girls basketball playoffs Monday night and are the only local teams remaining for quarterfinal play slated for Thursday.
Huntington, the top seed in Select Division I, rolled past No. 16 Acadiana 72-34.
Non-Select Division I had the other two winners locally as No. 5 Parkway defeated No. 21 Northshore 74-45 and No. 8 Haughton defeated No. 24 Thibodaux 41-31.
Parkway (27-6) got a game-high 30 points from Dakota Howard while Chloe Larry tossed in 24. The Lady Panthers will host No. 13 St. Amant in the quarterfinals.
Local casualties in Select Division I included No. 12 Northwood and No. 22 Captain Shreve. The Lady Falcons (22-12) fell victim to No. 5 Woodlawn-Baton Rouge 71-38. The Lady Gators dropped a 65-25 decision to No. 6 Carencro.
Northwood had an uncharacteristic night from the floor hitting on just 12-fo-52 for 23 percent and was 2-of-25 from 3-point range.
“That’s something we lean on as a team and that’s shooting the ball,” said Northwood coach Will Burton. “Tonight we were just off, but credit to Woodlawn. They’re an unbelievable team that’s unbelievably coached team.
“They came out and wanted it,” continued Burton. “You could tell they were an aggressive team. We saw they were a long team on film and you could see that in warm ups.”
Hannah Mouton led Northwood with 14 points and Makayla Rogers tossed in 10.
Captain Shreve, who saw its season end with a 13-15 mark, was led by Jakiyah Lane’s 8 points.
Booker T. Washington had the unenviable task of facing one of the top players in the state in Jada Richard of top-ranked Lafayette Christian in a Division II Select game in Lafayette. Richard scored a game-high 32 points to lead LCA to the 76-40 win. Jakalyln Pouncy scored 17 to pace the Lady Lions who finished the season 13-16.
