Roy Griggs, W.C. ‘Bubba’ Rasberry, Jr., and Dr. Steen Trawick, Jr., SFHM – Distinguished Citizens Awardees at Norwela Council’s Second Annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner, recognized for their decades of civic leadership and unwavering support for local Scouting programs.

The Norwela Council, Boy Scouts of America (BSA), is gearing up for its Second Annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner, scheduled for Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 6:45 p.m. The event, hosted at Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino, aims to raise awareness and support for the Norwela Council Scouting programs.

This annual gathering promises a night of fun as local “celebrities” turn into waiters, creating an enjoyable experience for guests. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of Distinguished Citizens Awards to Roy Griggs, W.C. “Bubba” Rasberry, Jr., and Dr. Steen Trawick, Jr., SFHM. These honorees are recognized for their decades-long dedication, leadership, and service to the community, particularly their significant support for local Scouting.

President of the Norwela Council, Bobby Matthews, expressed excitement about honoring these civic leaders and showcasing Scouting’s positive impact on the community. Griggs, Rasberry, and Trawick have played pivotal roles in delivering Scouting to youth across Northwest Louisiana and have received recognition at local, regional, and national levels for their contributions.

The event’s celebrity waiters, including notable names like Tari Bradford, Dianne Clark, and Chief Clarence Reese, add to the festive atmosphere. Jeff Brasher, Scout Executive/CEO of the Norwela Council, shared the success of last year’s dinner and the anticipation of another great turnout and show of community support.

Tickets for the event are available at $125.00 each or $225.00 per couple, with table sponsorships at $1,000.00. Corporate sponsorships are also welcomed. The Dinner Steering Committee, led by prominent civic and business leaders, is actively supporting the event.

The Norwela Council of the BSA, established in 1923, serves a nine-parish region: Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, and Webster. Committed to preparing today’s youth to become tomorrow’s leaders, the Council instills values that are increasingly rare in today’s society.
