Motivated by the staggering statistic of only 9.6% of 18–20-year-old citizens being registered to vote nationally, Jackson founded The High School Voters Project.
His initiative aimed not just to boost voter registration numbers but to amplify the voices of young adults often overlooked by political candidates due to historically low turnout rates. Collaborating tirelessly with school systems, partners, and dedicated volunteers, Jackson’s efforts have resulted in registering over 20,000 students to vote in Louisiana since the project’s inception in 2003.

The pinnacle of acknowledgment arrived when Louisiana Governor John Bell Edwards signed the “Louisiana High School Senior’s Voter Registration Day” act in June 2023, a testament to the significance of Jackson’s advocacy.
Moreover, his tireless advocacy extends to a national stage, spearheading initiatives to establish the 1st Tuesday in May as the National High School Senior’s Voter Registration Day, aiming to empower youth across the country to exercise their democratic rights.
