High-scoring Airline has joined District 1-5A champion Captain Shreve in the final Class 5A Louisiana Sports Writers Association football poll released Monday.
It is the first time since 2016 when Parkway and Evangel were ranked that two schools from District 1-5A were in the final poll. The LSWA concludes its state top 10 polls with the completion of regular season competition.
The Vikings moved into the state rankings at No. 10. Airline is the highest scoring team in the 5A poll at 46.3 points per game.
The Gators moved up a spot to No. 8 and are the third-highest scoring 5A team at 41.6 points per game behind Acadiana’s 44.7.
Calvary finished the regular season 10-0 and kept its No. 1 ranking for the entire 10-week span in Class 2A. The Cavaliers are also one of the top scoring teams in any class, taking a 46.6 points per game average into the playoffs.
Evangel continued to receive votes in the Class 4A poll.
