Captain Shreve’s win over previously undefeated and No. 9 ranked Airline Friday has the Gators now receiving votes in the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s state Class 5A Top 10 poll for the first time since the first week of the season.
The Gators’ 60-35 win has them with 13 points, two more than the Vikings. Previous No. 1-ranked John Curtis lost for the second week in a row and barely stayed in the top 10 at No. 10 with 32 votes.
In Class 4A Evangel continues to receive votes after the Eagles got a big District 1-4A win over Northwood 40-21.
Calvary’s hold on the top ranking in 2A didn’t change as the Cavaliers still received 10 first place votes and are eight points ahead of second-ranked St. Charles.
