Districts 1-5A, 1-4A and 1-1A kick off league games this week with last year’s two top teams in 1-5A, Airline and Benton, starting off against each other Thursday night.

The Vikings (3-0) host the Tigers (1-2) a year after they finished 7-0 and 6-1 respectively in 1-5A.

The biggest rivalry in the city will take place Thursday when Byrd (0-3) and Captain Shreve (2-1) meet at Independence Stadium in another 1-5A game. They are the two largest schools locally.

Friday’s 1-5A games will have Bossier parish rivals Haughton (2-1) and Parkway (3-0) tangling in Bossier City in the “Brotherton Bowl,” with brothers Jason (Haughton) and Coy (Parkway) as the head coaches, along with Southwood (0-3) going to Natchitoches Central (1-2).
