Calvary Baptist in Class 2A along with all four other schools ranked No. 1 last week in their respective classifications remained in the top spots of the LSWA prep football polls released Monday.
Airline (3-0) moved to the edge of the Class 5A top 10, leading the teams receiving votes after its 48-14 defeat of Northwood. Last week’s No. 7, St. Augustine, lost Friday but did not drop out of the top 10. The Vikings open defense of their 1-5A title at home against Benton this Friday.
The Cavaliers’ second consecutive defeat of a 1-5A team, a 42-21 win over Byrd, allowed them to stay ahead of St. Charles, who managed to take two of the Cavs’ first place votes. The Comets defeated Class 4A No. 7 Teurlings Catholic 48-20, dropping Teurlings two spots in this week’s poll to No. 9.
Evangel (1-2) dropped out of the No. 10 spot in the 4A poll after its 34-12 loss to No. 4 Westgate. The Eagles are still receiving votes heading into their 1-4A opener against Bossier at Rodney Duron Stadium.
