Two of state’s top rushers meet in Shreve-Union Parish game Friday

Two of the state’s rushing leaders will play against each other Friday night at Independence Stadium when Captain Shreve hosts Union Parish.

Captain Shreve’s Jamarlon Otis, the area’s leading rusher and ranked No. 4 in the state, will go against Union Parish’s Jy’marion Island, the No. 3 rusher according to GeauxPreps.com’s list of state leaders. 

The top three passing leaders in the state and four of the top five are from the Shreveport Bossier Journal list of leaders. Ben Taylor of Airline tops the list with 737 yards, followed by Abram Wardell of Calvary at 680 yards and Huntington’s Lorenzo White has 620 yards.   Peyton Fulghum of Evangel is fifth on the state list with 612 yards. 

Five of the top 10 receivers in the state are from the SBJ area with Airline having two of the five. Evangel’s Parker Fulghum (No. 3), Aubrey Hermes of Calvary (4), Kenny Darby from Airline (5), Kaleb Tucker of Huntington (6) and Airline’s Jarvis Davis (10).
