Loyola Prep will be on the road away from Messmer Stadium for the majority of the 2023 prep football season, starting with a couple of away games and finishing with three of the last four District 1-2A games at opponent’s venues.
The Flyers start with a Thursday night date with Captain Shreve at Lee Hedges Stadium. The Gators’ win last season evened the series of the neighborhood rivals at 3-3.
A trip to District 3-1A Logansport is next. The Tigers won a shootout 44-42 last season but Loyola has the 11-6-1 series edge.
The home opener will be a tough one as Non-Select Division II state runner-up North DeSoto will invade Messmer Stadium. Loyola leads the overall series 12-8.
A second straight home date has Red River coming to Shreveport. The Flyers have won four of the six meetings of the two schools.
Loyola will start District 1-2A play at home against Green Oaks after having a week off. LCP leads this series as well with a 20-12 mark versus the Giants.
A trek to Farmerville has the Flyers facing D’Arbonne Woods Charter. Loyola won last year’s first meeting 37-21.
A date with Lakeside is the final home game of the regular season for Loyola, who has never lost to the Warriors in 12 games.
Loyola will hit the road to Vivian for a date with North Caddo. The Flyers have won 32 of the 51 games played by the schools in a series that dates back to 1955.
The final regular season game will take Loyola to Calvary’s Jerry Barker Stadium where the Cavaliers have won both previous games. The Cavaliers have all five previous meetings.
