Huntington’s Lady Raiders will not play in the state girls’ basketball semifinals for the first time in four years after falling to No. 2 Lafayette 51-41 on the road Thursday night in the LHSAA Select Division I quarterfinals.
The Lady Raiders were the No. 7 seed and finished their season 24-7. The Lady Lions improved to 23-5. Lafayette will play No. 3 seed and crosstown rival St. Thomas More in the semifinals.
Huntington fell in last year’s semifinals and the 2020 semifinals. It was the state runner-up in 2021, all while playing in the Class 4A bracket. This will be the first time in six years a team from District 1-4A will not make the trip to the state tournament.
