Parkway and Huntington both begin the LHSAA girls’ basketball playoffs tonight looking to return to Marsh Madness in Hammond, playing second-round games at home after earning first-round byes.

Parkway is the No. 2 seed in Non-Select Division I with a 26-5 record and will host No. 15 Neville (17-8) today at 6 p.m. The Lady Panthers, led by one of the nation’s top players in senior guard Mikaylah Williams and productive junior guard Chloe Larry, are playing for a chance come out on top after falling in last year’s Class 5A championship game in double overtime to Ponchatoula.

Huntington is the No. 7 seed in Select Division I with a 23-6 record and welcomes No. 10 Acadiana (24-9). The Lady Raiders reached last year’s Class 4A semifinals before bowing out to top-ranked Warren Easton.

All teams with first-round byes host second-round games, which explains why five of the six local teams that won first-round games on the road will have to travel again in the second round.

In Select games, Byrd (18-11) is a 17 seed in Division I and must face top-seeded John Curtis (18-2) in Metairie. BTW (14-11) is a 19 seed in Division II and plays third-seed St. Louis Catholic (24-6) at McNeese in Lake Charles. Calvary (12-6) is a 19 seed in Division III as well and goes back down south to play No. 3 seed Houma Christian (18-2) at E.D. White High.  Also in Division III, No. 15 Loyola (12-15) will travel to Alexandria to play No. 2 Menard (27-5).

Non-Select Division I games involve No. 19 Haughton (24-10) at third-seed Barbe (26-4) and No. 17 Benton (20-12) visits No. 1 Walker (26-1).
