SULPHUR – Captain Shreve senior swimmer Lillian Tichenor was named the Outstanding Swimmer for the second year in a row at the LHSAA Division I State Swimming Championships at SPAR Aquatic Center Saturday.
Tichenor had first-place finishes in the 100 fly (55.67) and 200 IM (2:03.25). Tichenor’s back-to-back honor followed Brooke Fegley’s award in 2020 to make this the third consecutive year for a Shreve swimmer to collect the honor.
Teammates Lilliana Eppers and Madelyn Aubrey, both juniors, and sophomore Jennie Tichenor helped the Shreve girls finish eighth in the team standings.
C.E. Byrd swimmer Cailyn Bradford, a junior, won a state championship in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.32. Bradford also had a third-place finish in the 100 fly in 57.93.
Other Byrd girls swimmers included juniors Marina Klein and Caroline Carberry and sophomores Riley Quinlan and Taylor Garsee. The Yellow Jackets finished one spot ahead of Shreve in the team standings at seventh.
In Division II, Caddo Magnet’s girls finished fourth thanks to three freshmen and a senior. The senior, Hannah Waddell, took first in the 200 IM (2:17.04) and second in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.64).
