What a turnaround.

The Airline Vikings were 1-9 last season, 1-6 in 1-5A.

But after Friday night’s 42-14 victory over Southwood, the Vikings are district champions. 7-3 overall, 7-0 in district.

And it wasn’t close.

Check these scores, all victories, against district opponents.

Benton, 75-59. (The 75 set a trend.)

Natchitoches Central, 46-0.

Captain Shreve, 42-14.

Haughton, 55-42.

Byrd, 48-28.

Parkway, 41-20.

Southwood, 42-14.

Not only did Airline win the district, but they did it by outscoring their opponents in the nasty 1-5A league by an average of 25-plus points.  Almost four touchdowns. The closest game was the win by 13 over Haughton.

Friday night was more of the same. The Vikings led 42-0 at half and played tomorrow’s stars the rest of the way.

Airline began the season 0-3, which made the Vikings 1-12 in their most recent 13 games dating back to last season.

Now, that seems like a long time and another team ago.
