Evangel receiver Jared Cornelius is the only local receiver to have more than 300 yards receiving in a game, topping the Bossier-Caddo all-time list of single-game superlatives.
Cornelius caught seven passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns in a 2012 shootout loss, 48-47 in Lake Charles to Barbe. The Eagles scored and went for a 2-point conversion with 26 seconds left in the game but came up short. His three touchdowns all came from 80 yards out and he wasn’t the star of the game. That honor went to Barbe’s Trey Quinn who had nine catches for 341 yards and five touchdowns.
Cornelius’ big night broke the school record held by Abram Booty, who is second on the local list at 294 yards. Booty had 13 catches and four touchdowns in a game against Alexandria in 1996. The next two with the most yards come from different schools as Desman Ethridge of Huntington and L’Damian Washington of Green Oaks both had 257 yards. Kyle Jones of Calvary rounds out those with 250 or more yards at 253 in a game with Opelousas Catholic in 2015.
Joseph Wilson of Calvary joins Ethridge with 16 receptions in a game to top the list of most catches in a game. Wilson had 201 yards and one score against Rummel in 2020. Etheridge had 257 yards and two scores against Leesville in 2010.
