Plain Dealing has had just four seasons in the last 10 where it finished .500 or better during the regular season but the Lions’ 2022 schedule has five opponents that all finished below that mark, which gives hope for the coming season.
Non-district foes Lakeside and Beekman Charter along with District 1-1A opponents Ringgold, Magnolia Charter and Arcadia all finished below the break-even line in 2021.
The Lions start the season with a couple of opponents that finished above .500, hosting Delta Charter (6-5 in 2021) to open before going to Grambling to play Lincoln Prep (7-5).
Plain Dealing then travels to Sibley to face Lakeside (3-6) before beginning 1-1A play by hosting Ringgold (0-9). The Lions have defeated the Redskins 11 straight times, last losing in 2009.
The Lions hit midseason with a pair of 1A powers, hosting semifinalist Haynesville and then going to state champion Homer.
They make the trek to Shreveport to face Magnolia Charter (1-10) in a week seven matchup before coming back home to host Glenbrook.
A non-district battle at Beekman Charter (0-10) precedes the regular season finale at home against Arcadia (3-7).
