Bossier Parish Community College finished the Region XIV regular season with its 10th doubleheader sweep of the conference season by defeating Paris Junior College 8-0 and 6-4 Wednesday.

The Lady Cavaliers are 40-10 overall, marking their second consecutive 40-win season and fifth in six seasons. They finished region play with a 22-2 mark.

Primrose Aholelei tossed another gem allowing one hit in six innings and struck out 11 to run her record to 26-2. Haylee Ladner had two doubles and Dylian Sanay and Fia Tofi hit home runs.

Kennedy Cox and Hailey Pence had home runs in the second game win.

GRAMBLING 8-5, ALCORN STATE 7-4:  The Lady Tigers pulled off a pair of walk-off wins to complete a sweep of their Southwestern Athletic Conference series with the visiting Lady Braves. Grambling wrapped up the regular season with a 24-22 overall record, 11-13 in SWAC play before next week’s conference tournament.

Grambling took the opener in extra innings, then scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to steal game two over Alcorn (16-33). The Lady Tigers also notched four runs in the bottom of the seventh in the first contest to get to extras, overcoming a 7-3 deficit entering their last chance.

It was an especially bitter loss for Alcorn, which doubled its lead with a pair of solo home runs in the top of the seventh, but issued bases-loaded RBI walks in the bottom half and to end the game in the eighth. Grambling tied it by scoring two runs on a sacrifice fly.

The second defeat also stung the Lady Braves. Grambling’s four-run rally was capped by the game-winner coming across on a wild pitch.
