LSUS and the City of Shreveport have been awarded one of the 10 host sites for the opening round for the 2022 NAIA Baseball National Championships, the NAIA announced on Monday.

The Pilots are ranked No. 3 in the nation after finishing the regular season with a 47-3 overall record.

The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission helped in bringing the host site designation to Shreveport for the second time since the NAIA changed to a new format in 2009. The Pilots hosted the 2005 Region XIII Tournament before the new format was implemented. They hosted the Shreveport Bracket in 2019 after winning the Red River Athletic Association regular-season and tournament championships.

LSUS will be back in action Friday as it begins the RRAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed. The Pilots will face Houston-Victoria in the first round at 6 p.m. at the Sterlington Sports Complex just north of Monroe.
