Assistant Chief Kirby Dawson of the Shreveport City Marshal’s Office died on April 6, 2026, at the age of 54 following a reported sudden medical emergency.

Public visitation is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Heavenly Gates Funeral Home, 1339 Jewell St. A private family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at a separate location.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17, at 10 a.m. at Summer Grove Baptist Church on Jewella Avenue.

Dawson will be laid to rest at Paige Chapel Cemetery, located at 7711 Jefferson Paige Road.
