Shreveport police investigate city’s 5th homicide of 2026

Shreveport Police Investigate the City’s 5th Homicide of 2026 on March 5, 2026 around 10 pm officers with the Shreveport Police Department’s Uniformed Patrol Services Division responded to a loitering complaint in the 2700 block of West 70th Street. While on scene, officers heard multiple gunshots coming from a nearby parking lot. Officers quickly located a 25-year- old Black male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported by the Shreveport Fire Department to Ochsner LSU Health with life-threatening injuries. Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit responded and immediately began their investigation. Investigators have conducted multiple interviews throughout the night, however, additional information is still needed. Detectives are aware that a large group of individuals was present at the time of the shooting, and that video footage capturing the moments leading up to the incident may exist.


This incident marks the fifth homicide in the City of Shreveport in 2026. At this time, investigators are urging anyone who was present or who may have information, photos, or video related to this incident to come forward. Your cooperation is critical and may be the key to solving this case. The Shreveport Police Department also takes this opportunity to address the growing concern surrounding large, unlawful gatherings. These types of assemblies often create dangerous environments, placing those in attendance and the surrounding communityat significant risk. Individuals should be aware that not everyone present at these gatherings is law-abiding, and situations can quickly escalate into violence.
