Greenwood officers fall ill following traffic stop involving drugs

Example of powdered Fentanyl
Greenwood police officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had no license plates displayed on Sunday, April 20. During the traffic stop, two of the occupants were found to have outstanding warrants for their arrest. Also, during the contact, the driver (allegedly) tried to conceal a baggie with a white powder in it. Several baggies and straws with white, powdery residue on them were recovered along with some Fentanyl test strips. All four occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody and transported to Greenwood Police Department.

When Officers arrived at the police station, the first fell ill due to (suspected) Fentanyl exposure. A short time later, two other officers began suffering from suspected Fentanyl exposure. All three officers were transported to a local hospital.

All officers have since recovered and been released from the hospital.

All four suspects were transported to Caddo Correctional Center where they were booked on charges of Possession of Schedule 2 Controlled Dangerous Substances and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The two with outstanding warrants were also booked on the warrants.
