Airline, the undefeated District 1-5A champions for the first time since 1998, finally made it into the LSWA Class 5A football poll at No. 10. The Vikings finished the 2022 regular season with a 42-14 win over Southwood and are riding a seven-game win streak.
Calvary finished as the only other Shreveport-Bossier Journal school to be ranked statewide in voting by a panel of sports writers from around Louisiana. The Cavaliers were No. 5 in the final 2A poll of the season.
Rosepine, in Vernon Parish, was the only other school alongside Airline to climb into one of the polls at No. 10 in 2A.
