Parkway lone Bossier school at home 


Bossier Parish will be a little quieter than usual for a Friday night during football season with just one game scheduled locally, at Parkway’s Preston Crownover Stadium. 

The Panthers will host Red River from Coushatta. It will be only the second meeting between the two schools.  

Three of the road games will be matchups of undefeated teams as Airline travels to Union Parish, Benton is at Texarkana Texas to play Texas High and Bossier is at Glenbrook. 

Haughton tries to stay undefeated at LaGrange in Lake Charles. 

RED RIVER (0-1) at PARKWAY (1-0), Preston Crownover Stadium  

Series: Parkway 1-0  

Last year: Parkway 45-0  

Last week: Parkway beat Minden 43-41; Red River lost to Haughton 48-28

Notable: Parkway used its ground game to put away Minden. Antonio Gladney ran for 266 yards on 23 carries and four touchdowns and was supported by C.J. Dudley’s 144 yards on 18 carries and a score … The Panthers controlled the ball the final eight minutes of the game with 14 running plays. Dudley kept the drive going with an 18-yard run on third-and-17 … The 41 points allowed were the most by an opponent in a game won by the Panthers since 2016 when they defeated Lufkin 69-54 in the Battle on the Border … Both teams combined to score 57 points in the first half and 27 the second half, six in the fourth quarter by Parkway.   

AIRLINE (1-0) at UNION PARISH (1-0)

Notable: Airline turned the tables in its season opening with over North DeSoto. After committing eight turnovers in last year’s loss, the Vikings took advantage of Griffin miscues to score 33 third-quarter points to erase a two-touchdown deficit … Quarterback Ben Taylor was 32-of-46 for 315 yards and four touchdowns … Kenny Darby led the receiving corps with 10 receptions for 186 yards and two scores … The Vikings won the first three in the series with two of those being shutouts.    

BENTON (1-0) at TEXAS HIGH (2-0), Texarkana

Notable: Benton won its season opener for the third consecutive year all at the expense of Northwood … Greg Manning picked up where he left off last season with four touchdowns and 151 yards rushing on 38 carries … The Tigers erased a 20-7 third quarter deficit with two quick scores to gain the lead and added a third score for a 28-20 advantage but Northwood couldn’t convert a two-point conversion after a TD with a little more than two minutes left.

Notable: The Bucs outscored the Bulldogs with six rushing touchdowns … Quarterback Christian Turner led the ground game with 169 yards on 12 carries and three touchdowns. Devontay Moss added 134 yards and two scores. Second quarter scoring runs by Moss (39 yards) and Turner (70) put the Bucs ahead to stay after they trailed 14-13 … The season opening win was the 13th straight for Haughton and 21st in the last 22.   

BOSSIER (1-0) at GLENBROOK (1-0)

Notable: Bossier snapped an 11-game losing skid with last week’s comeback win… Quarterback Quan Scott and Lebrandon Davis both had a pair of touchdowns in the win …  The last time the Bearkats won their first two games was in 2019, a season they finished 7-4.
