Airline and Benton enter the 2023 football season after each set a school record for points scored in a season with the Vikings totaling 446 points in 11 games and the Tigers posting 558 points in 12 games last fall. 

Benton tied a Shreveport-Bossier record by averaging 61.7 points per game over a six-game spread and finished the season averaging 46.5 points a game. The Tigers averaged 52.6 points a game in seven District 1-5A games and scored a school-record 78 points in a 78-71 defeat of Haughton.  

Airline averaged 49.9 points a game in seven District 1-5A games in winning the championship, going 7-0. The Vikings return starting quarterback Ben Taylor, who passed for more than 3,000 yards as a sophomore. He will have key weapons returning in Tre’Von Jackson, Bob Patterson and Jeremiah Boudreaux. 

Benton tied a local record that was held by Calvary in 2021. The Cavaliers scored a local-record 721 points a couple seasons ago, averaging 55.5 points in 13 games. Their point total topped the only other time a school had gone over the 700 point mark. Evangel scored 704 points in 1994 and 702 in 1998, both times in 15 games.
