Centenary’s Gents will take a six-game win streak into this weekend’s Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference baseball tournament to be played in Cleburne, Texas.
The Gents are the No. 3 seed with a 22-13 overall record and will face second-seeded Trinity (25-14) today at 4:30 p.m. at The Depot at Cleburne Station.
A pair of freshmen lead Centenary at the plate with Carson Livesay hitting .394 and owning a team-best eight doubles. Collin Pitts has a .351 average and like Livesay has 18 RBI. The Gents are balanced with junior Jobee Boone driving in 26 runs to lead nine who have double-digit RBI. Lenny Forth has 25 RBI and Gary Hewitt 23.
The pitching staff has been outstanding with a team earned run average of 3.08 that ranks third in the country. Six Gent pitchers with more than 16 innings worked have an ERA under 4.00.
Parker Primeaux leads the staff with a 7-0 record and 2.03 ERA in 75 1/3 innings with 67 strikeouts. He has three saves and two complete games.
