St. John Berchmans Cathedral is hosting a Community Forum on Alzheimer’s & Dementia on Saturday, April 22, from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon in their Parish Hall located at 939 Jordan Street in Shreveport.
Forum speakers include staff from The Bridge Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center and the Center for Brain Health at LSU Health, Shreveport. There is no cost to attend. The program is open to anyone, whether there is a memory concern for either themselves or a family member, wanting to know about ways to reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s, or are interested in the latest Alzheimer’s research.
Speakers and topics include Paulette Freeman, executive director of The Bridge Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center, “Introduction to The Bridge and its Services;” Laura Gauthier, licensed professional counselor and dementia care practitioner for The Bridge, “Normal Aging vs. Dementia;” Stacey Hand, certified validation trainer and dementia educator for The Bridge, “Reducing Your Risk for Alzheimer’s;” and Elizabeth Disbrow, Ph.D. and executive director of the Center for Brain Health at LSU Health, Shreveport, “The Latest in Alzheimer’s Research.”
The Bridge Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center provides resources, education, and support services for those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, their family members, and caregivers and promotes community awareness. The Bridge Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Funds raised by The Bridge provide services in our Northwest Louisiana community.
