VIVIAN – Calvary bats were on display Tuesday in a District 1-2A doubleheader sweep of North Caddo, 19-7 and 20-3, that resulted in the Cavaliers clinching the district title.
The Cavaliers had a combined 38 hits in the two games led by Aubrey Hermes’ 7-for-10 day in which he drove in six runs and had two doubles. Jackson Legg was 5-for-6 with a home run and two doubles, scoring seven runs, and like Hermes, he drove in six runs. Cade Bedgood had a five-hit day in nine at bats with a double in each game and three RBI.
Calvary (17-9, 8-0) ran its win streak to 11 games with the sweep. The Cavs got four hits in the two games from Judson Funderburk in five at bats, as he scored five runs, drove in four and had two doubles. Hutch Grace hit a home run in the first game and was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
Kyzer Smith picked up the win in the opener while Jackson Moore got the second-game win.
North Caddo (11-12, 4-4) got three hits from Jon Austin in four at bats and Brady Wilson was 2-for-4 in the first game.
