World Cup is exciting but Bossier’s soccer tournament is local, and starts today

Even non-soccer fans are getting into the World Cup halfway around the globe.

Just down the road locally, there’s a big high school event that has years of tradition and dozens of teams ready to start competition today.

The 32nd Bossier High School Futbol Classic will be staged at Tinsley Athletic Park in Bossier City.

The largest tournament in this area will welcome 20 different schools to participate:

  • Benton 
  • Bossier
  • Byrd
  • Caddo Magnet
  • Calvary
  • Captain Shreve
  • Evangel
  • Grace Christian 
  • Haughton 
  • Huntington
  • Leesville
  • Minden
  • Neville
  • North Caddo 
  • North DeSoto
  • Northwood
  • Ouachita Parish
  • Parkway
  • Sam Houston 

There will be  42 different teams from the 20 schools:

  • 12 varsity boys teams
  • 16 varsity girls teams
  • 8 junior varsity boys teams
  • 6 junior varsity girls teams 

Admission is nominal. A one-day pass is $7, a two-day pass costs $12 and a three-day pass goes for $18.

The tournament will honor LHSAA coaching cards and BPSB employees cards with presentation of a current ID.

Games will begin at 4:30 today and Friday and run until 8:15 for the final game of the evenings.

On Saturday the games begin at 8 a.m. with the championship games scheduled for 6:45 that evening.
