Parkway used a big win over previously-ranked Captain Shreve to move into this week’s Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 5A poll at No. 8. The Panthers had been receiving votes and now are the only ranked team from Shreveport-Bossier. Byrd, ranked No. 7 in last week’s poll, dropped out after its surprising, lopsided loss to Benton.
Northwood and Huntington continue to receive votes in the 4A poll after convincing District 1-4A wins the past week. Northwood defeated Bossier 48-12 and Huntington downed Minden 60-27.
In Class 2A, North Caddo (4-1) moved up two spots to No. 4 after its 28-27 defeat of Class 5A’s West Ouachita, who came into the game undefeated. Calvary moved up one spot to No. 7 after a blowout 52-6 win over Mansfield.
