Snead sharp as Byrd shuts out Texas High

Byrd senior pitcher Patrick Snead tossed a complete game shutout in a 2-0 win over visiting Texas High of Texarkana Thursday night.

Snead improved his record to 2-1 by scattering four hits over the seven innings of work, striking out 8 and walking one.

Senior third baseman David Favrot was 2-for-3 with a double and scored a run for Byrd, now 5-4.

HAUGHTON 12, TEXAS HIGH 3: The Bucs won the first of two games at home in the Jason Bland Invitational. Austin Anderson improved to 3-0 on the season going six innings, striking out 8 and walking one. Colin Rains was 4-for-4 with 2 RBIs and scored 3 runs. Chan Lytle had two home runs and drove in five runs and Joshua Sewell was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs.

RUSTON 11, HAUGHTON 6: The Bucs lost for only the second time in 11 outings as the Bearcats scored five runs in the first and sixth innings. Colin Rains continued his hot hitting, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs for the Bucs.

PARKWAY 8, NORTHSHORE 2: The Panthers scored four runs in the second inning on their way to their fourth win in nine games. Cade Josting picked up the win, giving up just one hit in the first 6 1/3 innings, striking out 7 and walking 2. Trenton Lape tripled in two of Parkway’s four runs in the second inning and Shawn Driggers doubled in two runs in a 3-run fourth.

CALVARY 20, SOUTHWOOD 1: The Cavs (5-4) made quick work of the Cowboys with two 8-run innings in the five-inning game. Cade Bedgood had 3 hits with a double, and Cody VanNoppen contributed 3 hits, 2 RBIs and two doubles. Aubrey Hermes, Sawyer Fowler and Hutch Grace all had two hits, with Hermes getting a double and Fowler a triple. Drew Bickham picked up the win allowing one hit, as he struck out six and walked two. Jackson Tedder got the save by allowing one hit in two innings and striking out three. Trenton Wallace had a double for one of Southwood’s two hits.

LOYOLA 4, CALVARY 3: William Soignier (3-1) got the complete game win, scattering 5 hits, 3 runs, 2 earned. He struck out four and walked four as the Flyers held on to improve to 4-5. Reagan Coyle was 2-for-4, while Parker Thomas and Murphy Tamplin had RBIs for the Flyers. Jackson Legg and Cody VanNoppen drove in runs for Calvary.
